About Kawena Designs’

Kawena Design is a small batch, made-to-order brand intentionally moving toward slow fashion. Every piece is thoughtfully designed and created by me, with a focus on quality, earth tones, and limited drops rather than mass production. The brand offers a curated mix of apparel and accessories, blending original designs, vintage inspired pieces, and reworked garments.

Rooted in vintage and retro style especially the free-spirited energy of the 70s. Kawena Design weaves in Polynesian elements from my Hawaiian and Tongan heritage. Traditional motifs, cultural influences, and modern silhouettes come together to create pieces that feel both nostalgic and fresh.

The name Kawena Design comes from my middle name, Kawenalani, meaning heavenly glow. This brand represents where I shine creatively doing what I love and sharing that glow with others. Each piece is a reflection of intentional design, cultural roots, and a groovy, modern expression of heritage.

I’m Kesaia Loleka Kawenalani Pululole Rachel Requilman

I’m a stay-at-home mum currently living in Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. I was born and raised in New Zealand and come from a blend of Tongan and Hawaiian heritage. Creativity has always been a big part of who I am, and fashion and design have been my passion for as long as I can remember.

I’m deeply inspired by the 70s era, from the music to the clothes, and I love finding ways to blend that time period with cultural elements that reflect where I come from. Creating has always been how I express myself, and in this season of life, it’s become a meaningful way for me to stay connected to my creativity and share it with others.

This space is where I get to share pieces of my world, my inspiration, and the things that make me feel most like myself.
